My reflections about "All about Lily Chou-Chou" part (3): ~by Cheng

The four main characters in this film are Yuichi, Kuno, Hoshino, and Tsuda. Their fates are totally different. They all faced the difficult fates that they couldn't solve, first they all bear others’ bully, but when it came to an explosive point which they couldn’t bear anymore, due to their different personalities, they got different destinies.
At first, they all are succumbed to their fates; they didn’t dare resist or rebel for what others forced them to do. Kuno and Hoshino are so excellent in some fields that many students envied them, the students tried to edge them out and destroy them. Hoshino didn’t care about other laugh at him; even hit him with a can. He didn’t argue or fight with others; Kuno kept silent and didn’t play the piano, even she was raped by subordinates of Hoshino, she just cut all her hairs out to prevent from being raped again.
Tsuda was prostituted to make money for Hoshino, when she would go out with a man, she would ask Hoshino what she should wear inside, and she never escaped or fought with Hoshino. Yuichi was forced to do many things that he didn’t want to do, like supervising Tsuda, giving money to subordinates of Hoshino, being hit and jerking himself in front of subordinates of Hoshino; even brought Kuno who was his love to the old factory to be raped, He didn’t dare to resist.
When Tsuda was wooed by her classmate, she found she couldn’t tell him the truth, and knew she wouldn’t have a shiny future from then on, it came to an Tsuda’s explosive point, she chose to jump from the high tower just like that the kite flew to the sky. And she died.
When it came to a Hoshino’s explosive point, Hoshino was totally changed into another person, turned fierce and cruel from sincerely and kind.
Kuno chose to cut all her hairs out in order to escape being raped again; it seemed not come to Kuno’s explosive point. She seemed to be very calm, nothing reflected on her face. It seemed no emotion on her face, she just kept silent. She didn’t play piano in the orchestra, except being alone after school. She didn’t talk to others about her being raped. She almost kept silent all day long.

About the tragedy of Tsuda’s death, in my opinions, the most important thing is that she couldn’t release her emotions and she didn’t ask for help. I think teachers should propagate much for releasing emotions and how to ask for help in school, many students do it well, too. But there are still a few of students couldn’t find ways to release their emotions. In the film, Yuichi and Hoshino released their emotions online in the website of Lily, Kuno released her emotions with playing piano, just like water go from the stream into the sea, and this seemed let Kuno avoid arriving the explosive point in emotions. Tsuda didn’t believe the Ether and the Lily (she was ever on the website, her nickname online was “S”), and couldn’t release her emotions in any way. At last, she couldn’t bear the pressure, she committed suicide.

When students couldn’t release emotions, their friends play important roles; we should teach our students to care about others surrounding them. When they find somebody get trouble, they could actively help or care him. Only always caring people surrounding us, it could less let the tragedy occurred. So teaching students how to help and care others actively would be an important work for teachers in school.

One of the important problem is the teens don’t seek helps from teachers or parents, All the four characters of the film “All about Lily Chou-Chou” never told the teacher or their parents for help, they just bear it until the tragedy occurred. they just want to solve by themselves, they get no habit to seek helps from adults, but when they couldn’t solve it, they still don’t want to seek helps from adults, if some of them get bad social skills and make no good friends around them, only could they feel depressed, and some of them would choose violent actions.
In fact, seeking for helps from adults is useful usually. I remembered one of my students, A, she was bullied by another student of mine, B, a few years ago. B with her friend C hit and bullied A, and even forced her on her knees. I took a picture for A, and took her went to hospital and the police station. I contacted with parents of A and B to school, B apologized to A, and on her knees, A and her parents forgave her. But we couldn’t contact with C, she was on another township, I found the township she lived, and went to the police station for help. At last, I found her, and knew her was poor, too. Her father was in the prison, and her mother went away from home. I took her to meet A and her parents, and told them about C’s family, after C’s apologize, they forgave her eventually. In my memory, B never bullied anyone, fortunately.
Therefore, besides teaching the teens good social skills to make some good friends, teachers and parents should establish good relations with the teens, and emphasize that their students or children could seek help from them at any time, for any needs. If students and children are willing to seek help for adults, I think they would be easy to pass their low emotional period.
